Description of Programmes

Professional capacity building in environmental health and sanitation is necessary in many societies because of inherent poor sanitation, poor environmental management and associated problems. The Environmental Health and Sanitation Education (EHSE) programmes, are designed to produce higher level manpower for the public health and sanitation service sectors of the country. The goals of the programmes are to provide students with the scientific principles and concepts to understand identify and analyse environmental problems both natural and man-made, and also to evaluate the risks associated with these problems. The programmes also aim at   equipping students with the knowledge, attitude and skills required in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene within a given environment (physical, social and cultural) to enable them better educate members on environmental health issues.

• SHS Certificate Holders
• Graduates from the Schools of Hygiene
• Coordinators and teachers of School Health Education programmes
• Community Health and Allied Health Professionals
• Staff of Community Water and Sanitation Agency
• Staff of Environmental Health and Waste Management Departments of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and other organisations
• Environmental and Safety Workers of Mining Companies and other Institutions.
