“UTUMWA” Reliving History | A Dance Production

The Department of Theatre Arts, UEW presents “UTUMWA”, Reliving History, a dance production choreographed by Boako Isaac Kwame (COKE)

Synopsis

“UTUMWA” follows the story of Siaba and Yurina two siblings who were lured into slavery under the guise of good working conditions, education and greener pastures. On their doomed voyage they face torrid inhumane conditions. The expression of their emotions are artistically woven and displayed through intricate neo-traditional dance movements. UTUMWA depicts the distasteful truth faced by the oppressed under the cold hands of subjugate rulers through the lens of well-crafted dance pieces.
