Call for Proposals for 2016- 2017 Cycle & Proposal-Discussion Workshop
The Faculty of Social Sciences Education, University of Education Winneba, in conjunction with the African Humanities Program, are organizing a one-day sensitization and proposal discussion workshop on fellowships and related activities of the African Humanities Program.
With extension of the African Humanities Program for two more years, 2016-17 and 2017-18 by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the heart of the AHP will continue to be competition cycles for Dissertation/thesis-completion Fellowships, and Postdoctoral Fellowships that are supported with grants up to $20,000.
Each competition cycle will include:
- Dissertation/thesis-completion fellowships
- Postdoctoral fellowships for research and writing
- Residencies for research and writing at African institutes for advanced study
(Residencies will be available to current year Fellows as well as to Fellows from prior years.) - Manuscript development workshops for AHP Fellows
- An open call to AHP Fellows for submission of manuscripts to the African Humanities Series
Aims of the Workshop:
The workshop aims to sensitize lecturers and doctoral students on the activities of AHP and also assist prospective fellows to shape their proposals for the 2016/2017 call for fellowships which closes on 2nd November 2016.
Participants are therefore encouraged to bring along their fellowship application proposals for any of the items in the Competition Cycle for review and professional assistance.

Lecturers and advanced doctoral students who are undertaking qualitative research in the humanities and related fields, e.g.
History; Archeology
Language and culture
Literature studies
Linguistics
Studies of the fine and performing arts
Anthropology
Studies of religion, and Philosophy
Moral Education
* Proposals in Economics, Political Science, Geography, Education studies or related fields must have clear humanistic content and focus to be eligible
