B. A. (Economics Education)

Programme description

Objectives of the programme are to:

•      Provide relevant courses in Economics to students;

•      Equip students with pedagogical skills to teach economics in pre-tertiary and higher          level institutions.

•      Acquaint students with the theoretical principles underlying economic behaviour in           society;

•      Expose students to the methods of economic research in order to develop their                  analytical abilities in resolving economic problems.

 

B. A. (History Education)

Programme description

The objectives of the programme are to:

•      Provide relevant, meaningful and interesting courses in History;

•      Equip students with pedagogical skills and dispositions to teach History in pre-tertiary and higher level institutions.

•      Engage students with the theoretical principles and practices that underlie the                    construction and study of History;

B. A. (Geography Education)

Programme description

 

The objectives of the programme are to:

a.     Initiate and offer relevant courses in the various fields of geography in order to                  prepare its students for the challenges of the classroom and industry.

b.    Equip students to effectively teach Geography at the pre tertiary level

c.     Generate textbooks, teaching and learning materials on the subject to meet the growing     needs of the various levels of education in the country.

B. A. (Political Science Education)

Programme description

The objectives of the programme are to:

i.     Prepare graduates to teach government at the Pre-tertiary (e.g. Senior High School)   levels of education.

ii.    Imbue students with the capacity for a critical understanding of political issues through the mounting of relevant courses

iii.   Provide service courses in the subject to students in other disciplines in the University so as to acquaint them with the subject matter of Political Science.

B. Ed. (Early Childhood Education)

Programme Description

The Early Childhood Programme aims at:

•   Enabling the Early Childhood Educator to know the meaning, nature, principles and          foundations of Early Childhood Education.

•    Enabling Early childhood educators understand the roles and functions of Early

       Childhood teachers in the context of the emerging trends in child development.

•      Exposing trainees to the techniques of handling specific Early Childhood subjects.

B. Ed. (Basic Education)

Programme Description

The Basic Education Programme is designed to equip students with the requisite conceptual and practical skills as well as the right attitudes needed to teach at the pre-tertiary levels of education. Students are also prepared to take up leadership roles in education.

•   SHS Certificate Holders

•   Diploma Holders who desire to be trained as teachers

•   Teachers Certificate ‘A’ Holders who aspire to leadership positions in education.

 

Post Diploma B. Ed (Guidance and Counselling)

Programme Description

The objective of the programme is to train counsellors who would provide the youth with basic knowledge with which they can learn more about themselves and their environments so that they can take self-committed decisions and make intelligent choices within societal limits.

Post Diploma B. Ed (Community Based Rehabilitation and Disability Studies)

Programme Description

The Programme aims at:

      Developing competencies and skills in the field of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

      The development of manpower to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.

      Deepening understanding of issues relating to rehabilitation.

      Developing the capacity to transfer knowledge and skills to persons with disabilities, family members, community groups and other service providers.

Programme Description

  • The Special Education Programme seeks to equip students with practical Knowledge and skills to enable students of the programme:
  • Teach pupils and students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in special and Inclusive schools.

•      Provide services to pupils and students with SEN in Inclusive Educational Settings

•      Assess children and adults to see if they have SEN.

•      Provide rehabilitation services to people with Disabilities
