Research and Innovation will be the Heart of Education in Ghana – H. E. Pres. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

The President of the republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has reverberated the government’s commitment to provide quality education to Ghanaians by making research and innovation the heart of education in Ghana.

He said this when he graced the second session of the 21st Congregation of the University of Education, Winneba at the Jophus Anamoah-Mensah Conference Centre on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

AGBEMϽ (The vicissitudes of Life)

Agbemɔ (The vicissitudes of Life) is a story about a man who is imprisoned for a crime he has not committed. He is sentenced to a twenty-year imprisonment but released after four years upon a presidential pardon. His friend, another prisoner who is also released, helps him to start life again and later becomes very rich. Circumstances lead Agbem4 to fall in love with a lady who later turns out to be the culprit of the crime for which he is imprisoned. The lady is arrested and imprisoned. Agbem4 later gets married to the lady in prison.

The President of Oduduwa University pays a courtesy call on the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of UEW

The President of the Oduduwa University, Chief Dr. Ramon Adegoke Adedoyin, paid a courtesy call on the Ag. Vice-Chancellor and the Deans of Faculty of the University of Education Winneba to develop a framework of cooperation between the two universities.  Chief Dr. Ramon who is in Ghana as part of efforts of Oduduwa University's quest to build partnerships and relations with other like-minded institution in Africa used the opportunity to sign an MOU with UEW.

Bio

Dr. Richardson Addai-Mununkum is a Lecturer of Curriculum Studies in the Department of Psychology and Education, University of Education – Winneba. He holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, USA. He is also an alumnus of University of Cape Coast from where he graduated with a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. Dr. Addai-Mununkum has worked in various capacities as an educator both in Ghana and in the USA.

Panel Discussion on Documentary Linguistics and Summer School in UEW

 

A Panel Discussion on Documentary Linguistics was held as part of activities of the Summer school organised by the College of Languages Education, Ajumako, of University of Education, Winneba.

UEW Supports Central Regional Hockey Association

The University of Education, Winneba has extended its support to the Central Regional Hockey Association during the maiden edition of the Inter-Communities Hockey Competition in the region held on 8th July, 2017.

The tournament, which was under the theme “Hockey for all; play for all” was organized to give playing time to the players, develop coaches, improve on officiating the game, motivate the youth to continue training and play the game, and bring hockey to the doorsteps of the communities.

Professor Francis Nyamnjoh of the University of Cape Town is in the University of Education, Winneba, to interact with staff and PhD students about how to write a good proposal in order to secure the African Humanities Program fellowship.

University of Education, Winneba Governing Council inaugurated

 

The Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah, on Tuesday, 18th July, 2017 inaugurated the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

In a short address, he informed the council members that, they have been individually and collectively selected to take charge of the University based on their track records. He charged them as a matter of urgency, to restore calm on campus.

Confirmation of dates for the 2nd Session of the 21st congregation

 

We wish to inform graduating students for the 2nd Session of the 21st Congregation that, scheduled date for Graduating Students for the Winneba Campus remains unchanged (July 27th, 28th and 29th, 2017).

However dates for Kumasi and Mampong Campus ceremonies have been rescheduled as follows:

Mampong Campus: August 9, 2017

Kumasi Campus: August 10, 11 and 12, 2017

Please take note of the adjusted dates, all other schedules remain unchanged

HOD donates books and audio-visuals to Department of History Education

Senior lecturer in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Jim Weiler, has donated over two hundred books and audio-visuals that cover subjects such as history, economics, geography etc. to the Department of History Education. Dr. Jim, who is also Head of Department of Department of History Education and a visiting lecturer at the Department of Economics Education, also helped the Department to purchase books with his own credit card.
