Bereavement

Management of the University of Education, Winneba with heavy heart wishes to inform members of the University community of the passing away of Mr. Kofi Bentum Wilson, Head of ICT Department, Winneba Campus.

The sad event occurred following a tragic accident on the Winneba-Cape Coast road on Sunday, 6th May, 2018. Mr. Kofi Bentum Wilson was employed on January 11, 2007 as an ICT Lecturer.

Management wishes to express its condolences to the family.

UEW Supports 2018 Aboakyer Festival

As part of its social responsibility, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has supported this year’s Aboakyer festival celebration with money and assorted drinks.

The presentation of the items was made on Wednesday, 2nd May, 2018 at the residence of the Omanhene of Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII. 

The Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq recounted that as the community celebrates its festival, this donation will supplement the drinks offered to visitors during the festivities.

Acting Head of Department of Graphic Design attends FITC-Design Conference in Amsterdam

The Acting Head of Department of Graphic Design, Dr. Ebenezer Acquah attended a Design Conference at Amsterdam and visited the Department of Communication and Multimedia Design (CMD) at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in Netherlands from February 18, 2018 to March 3, 2018.

At CMD, Dr Acquah interacted with faculty members and students and initiated a discussion to foster collaboration between CMD and the Department of Graphic Design, University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

Call For Papers - Journal of African Arts and Culture

The Editorial Board of the Journal of African Arts and Culture (JAAC) announces a call for papers for the upcoming issue (October, 2018). This invitation is extended to local and international academics; practising artists; arts-based managers; organisations working in Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs); and organisers of cultural festivals. The journal publishes progressive research in ancient, contemporary and modern African Arts and Culture.

Late Prof. Reynolds Okai to go Home on May 27

A six-member delegation from the family of the late Prof. Reynolds Okai (Principal, College of Technology Education, Kumasi) has officially announced Sunday, 27th May, 2018 as the day of burial for the deceased.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, 2nd May, 2018 at the Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba when a six-member delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

Fulbright Scholar Donates Learning Materials to Department of Special Education

 A benefactor of the 2017/2018 Fulbright Scholarship Program at the Special Education Department, Professor Tiece Ruffin has donated 79 books and some reading pens to the Department and its Reading Resource Centre. The presentation took place at the office of the Head of Department of Special Education at 9:00am on Friday, 13th April 2018.

This donation will help the Department, the Faculty of Educational Studies, and the Effutu Municipality achieve its aim of helping students with special needs achieve their goal and aspirations.

The Office of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS)/Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Organisers of Miss UEW 2018,  per the disclaimer attached, wish to apologise to Management of the University of Education, Winneba, and the entire student populace for the unacceptable manner in which one Nana Yaa, the 2016/2017 winner of Face of North, UEW, dressed almost nakedly to attend the just ended 2018 Miss UEW Beauty Pageant Show, held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre on Saturday, 28th of April, 2018.
