“UEW has many Great Features to Offer Ghana” – Ag. Vice-Chancellor

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni has said that the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has many great features to offer Ghana and beyond in spite of its challenges.

He pointed out that stiff competition from tertiary institutions running programmes in Education, Business, Technical/Vocational Education; dwindling Government subventions, inadequate qualified and experienced academic and administrative staff; exorbitant staff development programmes and others were key challenges facing UEW.

Department of Mathematics Education Holds Maiden Pupils’ Mathematics Camp

The Department of Mathematics Education of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has organised a weeklong intensive Pupils’ Mathematics Camp for upper primary school pupils from University Practice Schools in the Effutu Municipality. The Camp, which is still ongoing, is under the theme ‘Innovative Ways of Teaching Mathematics to Pupils’. It commenced on Monday, 27th and is expected to end on Friday, 31st August, 2018.

Collection of ID Cards for Fresh Students

All Fresh students are to note that the collection of student ID Cards for the 2018/2019 Academic year has been tied to the completion of individual medical examinations.

In view of this, upon the completion of your medical examination, you will be issued with a CHIT that would enable you collect your student ID Card from your Department.

We therefore entreat all fresh students to make sure that they complete the medical examination in due course.

Relative clause construction in Nkami

This paper provides a systematic descriptive account of relative clause constructions (RCCs)
of Nkami, an endangered Ghanaian language, based on synchronic data. It addresses issues
that are of general interest in relativization, typology, syntax and grammaticalization.
Among other things, it is observed that in Nkami’s RCCs both the head noun and its referent
within the relative clause (RC) are explicitly stated, save when the referent is inanimate in
non-subject function. Thus, Nkami is among the very few languages that employ the

Coordination in Nkami

In this paper I comprehensively discuss the syntactic phenomenon of coordination in Nkami, an endangered, less known Guang (Kwa, Niger-Congo) language of Ghana, based on synchronic natural data. I discuss issues including Nkami’s coordination strategies, its number and types of coordinators, morpho-phonological make-up and distributional abilities of the coordinators, allowable types of syntactic structures for coordination, and the semantic effect(s) of the coordinators on coordinate structures.

COLTEK Organises Orientation for Fresh TVET Distance Students

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) on Wednesday, 22nd August, 2018 held an orientation for fresh undergraduate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Distance students at Kumasi.  

In his Opening Remarks, the Ag. Principal of COLTEK, Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo reminded students of the intensity of the TVET Distance programme. He therefore, encouraged them to devote adequate time and resources to their studies so they could succeed.

LABTECH International Limited Explores Partnership with UEW to Boost TVET

A team from LABTECH International Limited  has paid a visit to the College of Technology Education, Kumasi Campus, to interact with Management and explore the possibility of partnering with UEW. The visit was facilitated by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) as part of their efforts to develop the country’s technical and vocational education.

CAGRIC to Embark on Milk Production Project for Yoghurt Making

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor has lauded the efforts of the College of Agriculture Education (CAGRIC) in implementing a project on milk production for yoghurt making. He informed Matriculants at the 2018 Sandwich Matriculation of the Asante-Mampong campus on Saturday, 11th August, 2018 that the College produces very nutritious fresh yoghurt at the Yoghurt House of the College.
