“Protect data on our students”, Principal of COLTEK entreats NSS

The Ag. Principal of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK), Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo has entreated the National Service Secretariat (NSS) to protect data on final-year students that the University of Education Winneba (UEW) submits to the Secretariat annually to aid in national service placements.

Members of UTAG-UEW Declare their Position on Current Developments at the University

Members of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) have declared their position on current developments at the University’s Ajumako and Winneba campuses.

The declaration was made at a press conference organised today, Thursday, 28th March, 2019 at the Pecku Conference Room, North Campus, Winneba.

LEATHER WORK IN THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF GHANA

Ghana has a rich cultural heritage built over a long period of time, whose common values represents the people’s collective national heritage (National Commission on Culture, 2004).

However, culture is dynamic and often affected by local and external influences. Our cultural heritage is expressed in intangible as well as tangible forms (Anoquandah, 2006).

Institutions such as Ghana Export and Promotions Council and the National Commission on Culture exist in Ghana however, not much is done to promote and develop indigenous arts especially, Leather work.

Recent Disturbances on UEW Campuses in Winneba

The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba has noted with concern the recent happenings on our Winneba campuses, especially with regard to agitations escalating into violence on life and property. The university is currently assessing the damage caused and will release a detailed Press Statement to address the issues including the misinformation that has taken the airwaves regarding the university.

Winneba NVTI Manager Calls on Vice-Chancellor

The new Manager of the Winneba National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Mr. Martin Ekow Young, on 5th March, 2019 paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni as part of his tour to introduce himself to stakeholders upon assumption of duty. 

He mentioned that records available at the Institute indicated an existing good relationship between the UEW and NVTI and as a new Manager, he has a duty to maintain and strengthen that relationship.

Stakeholders Workshop for Basic School Teachers in Effutu Municipality – Preparation for the Implementation of the New 4 Year B.Ed Programme

The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) of the University of Education, Winneba is organizing a 2-day Residential Workshop on the preparation for the Implementation of the New 4 – Year B.Ed Programme.  This workshop is to prepare Basic School Teachers to coach/facilitate Level 100 Students of the Departments of Basic Education and Early Childhood who will be embarking on the Supported Teaching in School (STS) component of the New 4 Year B.Ed Curriculum.
