University of Education, Winneba Outclasses AUCC

The University of Education, Winneba, lived up to its mantra of "show them" in the second edition of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge as it whipped the Africa University College of Communications (AUCC) to progress to stage two of the contest.

The UEW had a good start in the 7th contest of the stage one of the TBSC and maintained the lead through the various rounds of the contest. At the end of the 5th round, UEW progressed to the next stage with 56.5 points while AUCC scored 20.

Grant Proposal Writing Workshop for Academic Staff

The Externally Funded Projects Office (EFPO) is organising a proposal writing workshop for academic staff of Faculties and Research Institutes of the University. The workshop, which is meant to build the proposal writing capacity of staff, will be facilitated by a seasoned grant writer who will give participants hands-on-exercises to enable them acquire skills in grant proposal writing. Staff of your faculty/institute are all invited to this programme.

One-Day Workshop for Student-Electoral Commissioners

The Electoral Commission of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Education, Winneba, is organizing a one-day workshop for Electoral Commissioners from the various Halls of Residence as well as the various Student Associations and Clubs on Winneba Campus.

This workshop is part of series of programmes of the SRC to ensure that this semester, being an election year on campus, the capacity of Student-Electoral Commissioners is enhanced to enable them to organize very peaceful, free and fair elections on campus.

Gender Mainstreaming Directorate Organises Conference for Women Leaders

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate in partnership with the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Women’s Commission has organised a day’s conference for women leaders on the theme “Women in Student Leadership: Challenges, Opportunities, Way Forward”.  

The conference, held on Friday, 14th February, 2020 at the School of Creative Arts Conference Room, Central Campus, was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni.

A Model of Saints, Wizards and Demons: The Dynamics of Public Policy Implementation

Sustainable socio-economic development cannot be possible without
effective implementation of public policies. Public policy implementation
in Africa has been largely ineffective as a consequence of multifactorial
factors. This theoretical paper undertook a quick overview of some policy
implementation works. The paper identified a complex web of actors
involved in the policy making environment and implementation process,
and draws significant insight from the theoretical perspective from studies

UEW Chapter of Senior Staff Association-UoG Inaugurated

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter of the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) was inaugurated on Friday, 14th February, 2020 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

The ceremony, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni, was held under the theme “UEW in the 21st Century: the role of Senior Staff in moving the University forward”.

Pursue International Collaborations – CIP Vice-Dean

The Vice-Dean of the Centre for International Programmes (CIP), Dr. Gabriel Botchwey has urged Academics and students to find opportunities to seek more information and interact with students and Faculty Members from other parts of the world to enrich their academic experiences.    

He stated that international collaborations which involve staff and student exchanges provides opportunities for adding to knowledge and understanding people from other parts of the world.

UEW Alumnus is National UNICEF/MOE Consultant on Early Grade Children with Learning Difficulties

Prof Hayford

Samuel Kweku Hayford (PhD), an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Educational Studies, University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and an alumnus, is the national consultant for UNICEF/MoE and other partners’ project on formative research and technical guidance on identification and support to children with learning difficulties in early grades in Ghana. The project is intended to create a more child-friendly environment in schools so that all children can learn. Prof.
