UEW Service Personnel Admonished to Strive for Productivity

Deputy Registrar at the Office of the Registrar, Dr. Hagar Bampo-Addo, has urged National Service Personnel (NSP) posted to the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for the 2021/2022 academic year to strive for significant results in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Hagar Bampo-Addo made this statement while delivering a welcome address on behalf of the Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima, Esq., at an orientation organised by the Division of Human Resource (DHR) for all NSP posted to UEW.

Nine-member ITECPD-UEW Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Committee Inaugurated

The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a two-day workshop for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Committee members and gender experts from the College of Education.

The two-day workshop, which took place from Monday, 20th to Tuesday, 21st December, 2021, at the Gloriaka Hotel, Winneba, witnessed the inauguration of a team of the UEW GESI Committee.

UEW Development Finance Programme is Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Development Finance

Management of University of Education, Winneba has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Africagrowth Institute (AGI), organizers of the Chartered Institute of Development Finance (CIDEF) programme globally.

The MOA will among other things allow the School of Business of the UEW to run Masters and certificate programmes in Development Finance.

Following this MOA, UEW will run the following programmes in the next academic year:

Deputy Minister of Education Lauds UEW for Role in Developing Educational Policies

The Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, has lauded the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), for playing significant roles in the area of developing educational policy frameworks and training teachers in Ghana.

He emphasised the Government's willingness to assist UEW and other higher education institutions in carrying out their mandates by improving facilities to accommodate the large number of applicants who would be knocking on their doors for admission.

UEW Continues to Excel in Providing Quality Education – Council Chair

The Chairman of the Governing Council, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Nana Ofori Ansah I, has said that UEW has continued to excel in providing quality education in Ghana and beyond to fulfil its role as a Centre of Excellence for Teacher Education.  

He stated that the University recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ghana Armed Forces to establish a Study Centre at the Ghana Military Academy and Training School, Accra-Teshie, to train military officers for their professional and personal growth.

The Faculty of Home Economics Education (FHEE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has embarked on a three-day retreat in fulfilment of objective 7.0 of the UEW Corporate Strategic Plan (2019-2023), which stipulates “Developing innovative curriculum and instructional designs with a key performance indicator of attending a retreat annually” and also strengthen bonds at the faculty.

Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and School of Communication Studies Set Research Agenda for Teaching

The Faculty of Foreign Language Education and the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba, have embarked on a three-day annual retreat at the Royal Lee’s Hotel, Tutu-Akuapim in the Eastern region of Ghana.

The retreat, which was under the theme “Honing your research skills”, sought to equip staff, assist them to sharpen their research skills, share ideas and become well-versed in research techniques.

Artistic Representations of Gender: A Monograph on the Art in the Dwellings of Sirigu in the Upper East Region of Ghana, West Africa

The Sirigu architectonic tradition consists of sculptured buildings with geometric patterns in mainly red, white and black. Scarifications on the faces of the indigenes also consist of intricate geometric incisions. The artistic traditions of the women of Sirigu play a vital role in their cultural identity, therefore the women demonstrate commitment not only to maintain their artistic uniqueness but also to brand and market it both locally and in the international tourist market.
