The balanced obligation in an era of global pandemic: Ghana’s foreign policy in a Limbo

This paper examines Ghana’s foreign policy under the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications for relations with its neighbors. It examines the country’s national interest as is reflected in the policies advanced in the midst of the pandemic, particularly issues bothering on the closure of borders and what it says of the long-held position of “good-neighborliness.” The work attempts at understanding how in the midst of pandemics countries can strike a balance between national interest while equally honoring their international obligations.

UEW Council Meets Students Involved in Accident

The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has met with students who were involved in an accident at Asuboi, a suburb of Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The meeting, which took place at the Council Chamber of UEW on Thursday, 17th March, 2022, was purposed for the Council to apprise itself of the state of affairs after the accident and to observe firsthand how the surviving students were faring.

Call for Application – PhD Fellowship at the University of Jyvaskyla

Applications are invited from qualified PhD candidates for the three to four-month fellowship tenable at the University of Jyvaskyla (JYU), Finland.

Eligibility

Applicants must

  • Be a Ghanaian on a PhD programme in UEW
  • Have successfully completed their coursework
  • Have their thesis proposal being education-related

It will be expected that applicants possess a valid passport. Teaching staff of UEW have a higher advantage

Nomination of Peer Educators

The HIV/AIDS Unit of the University is requesting Heads of Departments to recommend two (2) level 100 students from their departments to be trained and serve as peer Educators in their departments.

A Peer Educator is a trained student who educates his/her peers on health information, values, and behavior as a means of preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS as well as other Sexually Transmitted Diseases especially in this COVID – 19 era.

UEW SSA-UoG Elected National Executives

The election took place at the 15th National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the association held at the University of Development Studies, Tamale on 5th March 2022. UEW SRC Donates to Students Involved in Asuboi Accident

The Student Representative Council (SRC), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has donated food items to 23 students who survived the vehicular accident at Asuboi on Sunday, 13th March, 2022, and have returned to campus to resume their studies. 

Each student received a ten-kilograms bag of rice, two tins of milo, five tins of milk, one cup of sugar, and one crate of eggs. This is the SRC’s initial relief package to address the basic needs of the affected students while on campus receiving full treatment and studying.
