SCA Holds Maiden Creative Arts Conference

The School of Creative Arts (SCA), in collaboration with the Centre for Research, Culture, and Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised its maiden Creative Arts Conference. It was under the theme: "(Re)developing Creative Arts Education Policy and Research for Sustainable Industrial Development."

USAG Delegate Congress

The University Students' Association of Ghana (USAG) would hold its 21st Annual Delegates Congress in the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) under the theme "Eradicating Corruption: the University Students' Role. The congress will start from Thursday, 30th June to Sunday, 3rd July 2022. The opening ceremony would be held as follows:

Renewal of Contract Appointments

According to Schedule F. IV(a) of the University of Education, Winneba Statutes 2020, "a member of the staff whose contract is coming to an end shall notify the Registrar in writing with an updated Curriculum Vitae, six (6) months in advance through the Head of Department to have his or her contract renewed."

Management has however noted with concern, failure of some members of staff whose contract appointments have expired, to take the necessary steps to have their contracts renewed.

The Division of Human Resource in collaboration with the 2022 Retiree Send-off Planning Committee is organizing a 2-day Workshop for staff retiring from the service of the University of Education, Winneba in September 2022. The workshop is scheduled as follows:

UEW Places 3rd at 2022 FASU Games

The University of Education, Winneba placed third out of the 43 participating universities at the just ended 10th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games held at the Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. 

They bagged 23 medals made up of eight gold, 10 silver and five bronze to become the highest-ranked Ghanaian university at this year’s Games.

SPED Reading Resource Centre Donates to Patrons

The Special Education Reading Resource Centre under the Department of Special Education (SPED), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has donated assorted children’s clothing, story books and school supplies to support basic school pupils who use the Centre.

The clothes were sponsored by a philanthropist, Dr. Hannah Acquaye; books by Campaign for Learning Differences (CLED), Ghana; and school supplies by Mrs. Florence Akua Mensah.

CIP and UCN Lecturers Interact with Department of Theatre Arts

Lecturers from the University College of Northern Denmark (UCN) have visited the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), to learn about some Ghanaian indigenous dances and practices.

The visit was part of the International Fellows Week celebration organised by the Centre for International Programmes (CIP), UEW in collaboration with the UCN.

20th Anniversary Celebration of UEW Basic Education Department Launched

The Department of Basic Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Friday, 10th June, 2022, launched its 20th Anniversary celebration at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.  

The event, which was spiced up with cultural and artistic presentations by students from the School of Creative Arts and the Department of Basic Education, was under the theme, "Rediscovering the Quintessence of Education: The Role of Basic Education Delivery in Ghana".

SITUATE Research Team Hosts Dissemination Workshop

A group of lecturers from the Department of Geography Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a dissemination workshop at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room to present the findings of their research project, “Towards a disability-inclusive urban transport system in Accra and Nairobi: a policy practice agenda (SITUATE),” to key stakeholders.

IERIS and SHAPE Attitude Ghana Observe 2022 World Environment Day

The Institute of Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and SHAPE Attitude Ghana have held a float and roundtable discussion on the topic “Only one earth: the need to protect it” to mark the 2022 World Environment Day.

As part of the celebration, the organisers with selected school pupils in the Effutu Municipality marched down the principal streets of Winneba to the IERIS enclave to brass band music.
