UEW Hosts Workshop on Global Best Practices in Teaching STEM

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has hosted a weeklong workshop on the theme “Global Best Practices in the Teaching and Learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM): Enhancing Ghanaian Science Teachers’ Capacity”.

The workshop, which took place at the Student Centre Seminar Room III, North Campus, UEW, was a collaboration between the Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE), Lagos State University, and the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), UEW.

Department of Strategic Communication Holds Free Breast Screening

The Department of Strategic Communication under the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in collaboration with the Trust Hospital in Accra, has held a day’s social campaign on breast cancer awareness and free breast screening.

The exercise, which was organised under the global theme “Together We Rise”, took place at the forecourt of the SCMS on the South Campus of the UEW.

FSE Administrators’ Human Resource Skills Enhanced

Administrators from the Faculty of Science Education (FSE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), have participated in a one-day training workshop to hone their abilities for managing the faculty and the university effectively.

The event, hosted at the Faculty’s Seminar Room III on the South Campus of the University, was held under the theme "Enhancing Human Resource Skills of Administrators for Effective Faculty Administration".

CIP-UEW Hosts Workshop on Models for Digital Data Literacy in Africa

The Centre for International Programmes, University of Education, Winneba (CIP-UEW), in association with the University of Hamburg, has hosted a weeklong workshop on models for digital data literacy in Africa and digital repositories as open educational resources.

The five-day workshop, which was held at the Students Centre Conference Room III from Monday, 3rd October to Friday, 7th October, 2022, attracted participants from all around the globe who presented their research on digital data literacy and repositories.

UEW-IERIS Observes 2022 World Teachers’ Day with Teacher Unions

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has in collaboration with three teacher unions of six districts/municipalities in the Central Region of Ghana, organised a two-day seminar to mark the 2022 World Teachers’ Day.  

The two-day seminar, held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, UEW, from Wednesday, 5th to Thursday, 6th October, 2022, was under the theme “Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery after the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

UEW Business Students Encouraged to Put Theories into Practice for Greater Success

The Dean of the School of Business, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Braimah Awiasu Imurana, has exhorted students to challenge their minds, think critically, and apply ideas in real-world situations to be more successful.    

He emphasised that students' inability to apply what they had learned in school is what defines 21st-century illiteracy rather than their capacity to read and write.

UEW-HPERSSA Socialises UCC-HPER

The Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports Students Association, University of Education, Winneba (UEW-HPERSSA), has hosted the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, University of Cape Coast (UCC-HPER) for socialisation and fun games.

The event was meant to strengthen the existing cooperation and bonds between the only two institutions that train Physical Education instructors in Ghana.

UEW Strengthens Relationship with Evangelische Hochschule Berlin

A two-member delegation from the Evangelische Hochschule Berlin (EHB) – Protestant University of Applied Sciences Berlin, Germany, has called on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Mawutor Avoke, to explore ways to strengthen the existing relationship between both institutions. They were led by the Dean, Centre for International Programmes (CIP), UEW, Prof. Charles K. Assuah.

The Vice-Chancellor received the delegation on Tuesday, 27th September 2022, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.

UEW-IERIS Organises Workshop on Grantsmanship for Faculty Members

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a two-day training on grantsmanship to hone the prospects of lecturers in writing proposals for grants.

The workshop, which took place at the IERIS Conference Room from Thursday, September 22 to Friday, September 23, 2022, also brought perspective to the components of grant budgeting and skills in grant search.
