UEW holds Pre-Academic Orientation for Fresh Students

A one week pre–intensive academic orientation programme to welcome fresh students has commenced at the Winneba campus of the University of Education, Winneba.

The orientation has been scheduled from Wednesday, 24th August to Friday, 2nd September, 2016. The eight day rigorous programme has various facilitators presenting on many vital topics to enlighten students on all areas pertaining to their stay on campus.

Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies (CHRAPS)

The University of Education, Winneba has established a “Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies” (CHRAPS) in the Department of Social Studies Education of the Faculty of Social Science Education. The Centre, which is established on the Winneba campus of the University of Education, Winneba, has the same status as an academic department.

UEW CONGRATULATES NEENYI GHARTEY VII ON HIS 20TH ANNIVERSARY AND 60TH BIRTHDAY

The University of Education, Winneba has congratulated Neenyi Ghartey VII on the occasion of his 20th Anniversary as the Oma Odefe and 60th Birthday.

Quantities of assorted items were presented to him at his palace on Wednesday 17th August, 2016.

Presenting the items on behalf of the University, the Deputy Registrar in charge of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah congratulated him and asked for God’s Blessings over his life.

Report on workshop on the use of the ‘R’ econometrics software

Econs Workshop

The Department of Economics Education in collaboration with Department of Business Education organised a workshop  from August 8-12, 2016, on the use of econometric software called "R" at the computer laboratory of the Department of Economics Education at the Faculty Block (North Campus). "R" is an open source software downloadable from the Internet, It is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.

Rotary Club and CHSS Offer Free Healthcare Services

The Centre for Hearing and Speech Services (CHSS) of the University of Education, Winneba partnered the Rotary Club of Accra to provide free eye and ear screening services to two communities in Gyaahadze near Winneba. The event which took place last Saturday 9th August, 2016, at the Methodist Rafiki Village, brought together over 100 inhabitants of the two communities in Gyaahadze including women, men and children of all ages and stages of life. A team of medical practitioners from the Audiology department of the University of Education, Winneba led by Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar Dr.

Hall Managers Present Wall Clock to Senior Members in the Offices of the Registrar

The Hall Managers of the University of Education, Winneba, Winneba Campus have presented a Wall Clock to Senior Members in the Offices of the Registrar to be fixed at the Registrar’s Conference Room at the Pecku Building Annex, North Campus.

The presentation was made at a meeting held on Tuesday 9th August, 2016 at the Registrar’s Conference Room.

Presenting the Clock on behalf of the Hall Managers were the Hall Manageress for Ghartey Hall, Mrs. Haggah Bampoh-Addo and the Hall Manager for Simpa Hall, Mr. Foster Amoani.

Professor Florence Dolphyne Donates Accordion to UEW

The University of Education, Winneba has received an Accordion Musical Instrument from Professor Florence Dolphyne of the University of Ghana, Legon on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

In a statement, Prof. Dolphyne remarked that the musical instrument belonged to her late father and she deemed it appropriate to send it to a place where it would be put to good use and this informed her decision to make the presentation to the University of Education, Winneba.

IERIS holds public lecture on open distance and e-learning in tertiary institutions

The Institute for Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) has organised a public lecture on “Open Distance and eLearning in Tertiary Institutions” at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre on 1st August, 2016.

Introducing participants to the work of the Commonwealth of Learning, the President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Asha Singh Kanwar who was the guest speaker at the lecture said that the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an intergovernmental organisation established by Commonwealth Heads of Government.
