UEW Partners University of Massachusetts

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the University of Massachusetts, USA, have signed a partnership agreement with an umbrella tree planted at the South Campus of UEW to signify the partnership.

The founder and Executive Director of the African Community Center of Lowell, Mr. Gordon Donkoh-Halm, spearheaded the collaboration.

UEW Staff Keep Fit in Cohesion

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in an effort to build bonds and the physical well-being of its staff, has organised fun games for all the workers of the university. 

The fun games, dubbed "The Registrar’s Cup", were held on Thursday, 20th and Friday, 21st July, 2023, at the Hockey Pitch and volleyball court of the university's North Campus in Winneba. The male staff of the university engaged in football while the females played volleyball.

Department of Physics Education Discusses Myths in Physics

The Department of Physics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a day’s workshop for over 50 Senior High School (SHS) physics tutors in the Central Region under the theme "Innovative Teaching Strategies and Addressing Misconceptions in Physics".

The workshop, held on Wednesday, 12th July, 2023, at the Lecture Theatre 8, South Campus, UEW, provided participants with valuable insights and practical knowledge on innovative teaching strategies to address misconceptions in Physics.

UEW Lecturers School SHS Physics Teachers on Effective Teaching Strategies

Fifty physics tutors from senior high schools (SHS) in the Central Region have attended a workshop on effective ways of teaching the subject.

The workshop was organised by the Department of Physics Education of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on the theme, "Innovative teaching strategies to address students’ misconception in Physics", last Wednesday.

UEW Signs MoU with AICPA & CIMA to Professionalise Student Training

The University of Education, Winneba School of Business (UEW-SoB), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), to equip students and alumni with workplace-ready skills.

The MoU will require both institutions to offer a remote, digital self-paced learning programme, namely the CGMA® Finance Leadership Programme.

Dr. Ophelia Ohenewa Mefful: Tale of Determination, Triumph

Dr. Ophelia Ohenewa Mefful, an example of resilience and hard work, stands as a testament to both human determination and divine providence.

Despite encountering numerous obstacles throughout her life, she managed to surmount them and recently graduated from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Fashion. 

Dr. Mefful currently serves as a lecturer at the Takoradi Technical University, where she continues to inspire others with her journey.

UEWABS Installs Directional Posts and Name Tags at SoB

The 2022/2023 batch of the University of Education, Winneba-Association of Business Students (UEWABS) has installed six directional posts and name tags at the School of Business (SoB) building.    

The SoB block has historically presented difficulties for many students when navigating their way around the facility. The directional signage and name tags were installed to make it easier for students and visitors to navigate their way around the facility.

The two projects were unveiled on Friday, 23rd June, 2023, at the South Campus of the university.

Department of Early Childhood Education Organises First Aid Training

The Department of Early Childhood Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in collaboration with the Childhood Care Education Students’ Association of Ghana (CCESAG), has organised a workshop on first aid management at the Faculty of Educational Studies, North Campus, UEW.   

The goal of the training was to give early childhood student teachers the knowledge and practical skills they need to administer basic first aid in the classroom and other school settings when accidents occur.
