Department of Home Economics Receive Equipment from Valco Trust Fund

The Valco Trust Fund in Accra has made a donation of equipment to the Department of Home Economics Education. The gesture is a response to a request made by two Patrons of the Home Economics Students Association in the University of Education, Winneba. The Equipment which comprise a fridge, sewing machines, pressing iron (dry), pressing iron (steam), Gas Cookers (with oven), Blenders, Gas Cylinders (with regulators, hose & clips) was donated at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the Valco Trust Fund Building in Accra on 12th December, 2016.

Vice–Chancellor pays a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke has assured the Techiman Traditional Council of his unwavering commitment to carry through the University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW) plan to continue and complete all projects in that area. He gave the assurance when he called on the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area and President of the Traditional Council, Oseadeyo Ekumfi Ameyaw IV on Sunday, December 4, 2016 to officially introduce himself as the new Vice-Chancellor of the UEW.

“Animals require healthy and clean environment just like human beings” – HR tells University Farm workers.

The Division of Human Resource has organised an interactive workshop for staff of the University farm on Winneba campus. The workshop which was part of the annual scheduled interactive programmes for staff of the University farm brought together staff of the Division of Human Resource, Maintenance Office and the University Farm.

UEW Holds 21st Congregation Ceremony on Winneba Campus

The University of Education, Winneba has organised its 21st Congregation Ceremony at the Winneba Campus. The four-day ceremony commenced on Wednesday 23rd November, 2016 and lasted till 26th November, 2016 at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre in Winneba.

The event saw to the graduation of a total of 8,578 students at various levels: made up of 927 Postgraduate students, 4,789 Bachelor of Education students; 2,779 and 83 Diploma and certificate awards, respectively.

French Ambassador Commends Department of French Education, UEW

The French Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Francois Pujolas, has praised the Department of French Education, University of Education, Winneba, for the passion with which they participated in an exhibition mounted by Presence Africaine. He was particularly impressed by a paper that Dr Alfred B Cudjoe, Head of Department of French, presented on the language of African literature, a subject which, in the Ambassador’s words, has generated a lot of debate.

Faculties of Technical Education and Vocational Education hold workshop

The Faculties of Technical Education and Vocational Education have organised a workshop recently for their academic staff to sensitise them on the strategic vision of UEW and its implication for budgeting. The workshop also looked at the role of Heads of Department as leaders of academic departments as well as issues relating to the conduct of examination.

DON’T ADOPT “CHEW AND POUR” STRATEGY_ HOD TELLS HISTORY EDUCATION STUDENTS.

A general meeting was held for all students reading History Education by the Department of History Education at the Faculty block on 24 November, 2016.

The meeting brought together more than sixty students from various levels in the Department. The platform was used to discuss the upcoming examinations and Ghana National History Day (GNHD). It was also a favorable opportunity for history students to actively interact with staffs and lecturers of the Department about their concerns and grievances.

UEW RECEIVES DELEGATION FROM UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CAPITAL, COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

A 10 member delegation from the University College Capital (UCC), Copenhagen, Denmark has paid a three-day visit to the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.

The delegation led by the Head of International Department of UCC, Dr. Mette Jørgenson arrived in Winneba on Wednesday, 16th November, 2016. The visit which brought together Deans and Heads of Department from selected Faculties in the University was characterized by series of presentations, interactions and dinner meant to enhance collaborations between the two institutions.
