German Delegation Pays a Courtesy Call on the Vice-Chancellor of UEW

A 30-member German delegation, made up of officials, coordinators and lecturers of the German Academic Exchange Services Scholarship programme (DAAD) offices in Africa and Bonn has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba on Monday 24th October, 2016.

CAGRIC holds certificate training programme in international agriculture trade policy

The College of Agriculture Education of the University of Education, Winneba, Mampong Campus is hosting a two week Certificate Training Programme in International Agriculture Trade Policy from 17th October – 28th October, 2016 under the ECIATA-EDULINK II Project. The Training Programme was preceded by a colourful Opening Ceremony on Monday, 17th October, 2016 at College.

Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies Holds Public Lecture

The Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies has organised a public lecture on ‘the Importance of Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies in Present Development Discourse’ at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre of the University of Education, Winneba.

The event which was held on 19th October, 2016 marked the inception of the newly created Centre for Conflict, Human Rights and Peace Studies at the Faculty of Social Science. It brought together 500 dignitaries from Academia, security services, human rights institutions and other stake holders in education.

FORMATION OF NATIONAL HISTORY STUDENT ASSOCIATION

ASHIS(Association of History Students) executives in collaboration with history student executives from University of Ghana,University of Development Studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and University of Cape Coast met on 31 August 2016 to discuss the formation of National History Association. The main agenda was the importance of forming such as an association.

Orientation for Level 100 Students in History Department

The Department of History Education had its orientation for the fresh students on 31 August 2016. The Head of Department, Staff Members, National Service Persons, fresh students, and some few continue students were present at the gathering. The Head of Department opened the forum by welcoming all the level 100 students into the university. He also introduced the students to various projects carried out by the Department and encouraged the students to participate in all the projects.

Division of Human Resource holds Workshop for Academic Counsellors

The Division of Human Resource in collaboration with the Guidance and Counseling Unit of the University of Education, Winneba has held a workshop on Counselling for Academic Counsellors of the School of Creative Arts on October 11, 2016 at the Amu Theatre, Central Campus.

Presenting from the Guidance and Counselling Unit, Mrs. Patricia Amos, took the participants through what counselling is and the dimensions of counselling to employ when their services are required by Clients.

UEW NUGS Holds Exhibition and Entrepreneurship Summit

The Women’s Commission of the U.E.W chapter of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has organised an exhibition and entrepreneurship summit themed “Building Economic Independence” for students on October 7, 2016 at the J.N. Aryetey Auditorium.

The highly attended summit took student through entrepreneurial skills with the speakers imparting the audience with tips needed to become an entrepreneur and staying on top of their game.

Senior High School Students’ Views on the Teaching of Integrated Science in Ghana

A surver by Dr. J. A. Azure on Senior High School students’ perceptions of the teaching of Integrated Science in Ghana revieled that  most of the processes of science (i.e. observing, hypothesising, classifying, taking measurements, reporting, etc.) were not often carried out in Integrated Science lessons in Ghana.

UEW Female students awarded Vodafone Scholarship

Ten female undergraduate science students have been awarded Vodafone scholarship at a presentation ceremony organised by the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate at the University of Education, Winneba on 7th October, 2016.

The Ceremony brought together representations from the management team of the University of Education, Winneba, Staff of Vodafone Ghana and British Council as well as other dignitaries from a cross section of the University community.
