UEW Ranked Ghana's Most Sustainable University in 2022

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has been adjudged the most sustainable university in Ghana and the 986th most sustainable university in the world by the University of Indonesia (IU) GreenMetric World University Rankings for the year 2022.

The ranking is broken down into six categories: environment and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education, each with its own set of weighted indicators.

UEW Coach Appointed Assistant National Technical Director of Ghana Blind Sports

Coach Eric Ayine Aloko, head coach of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) goalball team, has been appointed as the Assistant National Technical Director of the Ghana Blind Sports Association. The appointment has been confirmed by the National Sports Council.

Coach Aloko won gold medals in goalball for UEW at the 2020 and 2022 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games held at the University of Ghana, Legon, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, respectively.

UEW Student Adjudged Overall Winner of GESS Awards

A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Art Education student, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been adjudged the ultimate winner of an international award organised by the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions (GESS) in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education.

Mr. Otoo emerged the overall winner of the prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award" at a ceremony held in Dubai.

UEW Vice-Chancellor Celebrates University Community at 2022 Carols Service

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Mawutor Avoke, has commended staff, students and other members of the university community for their commitment and support in chalking up the university's successes for 2022.

Reflecting on the university's activities during the year, he underscored the need for members of the university community to celebrate their collective accomplishments.

UEW-HPERS Organises Second Hydrotherapy Workshop

The Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (HPERS), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in collaboration with the Ghana Footvolley Association and Beit Issie Shapiro, has held its second hydrotherapy course for civil servants and members of the armed forces.

The four-day workshop, which took place at the HPERS Gym for the theory sessions and the Sir Charles Beach/Olympic Arena for the practical sessions, from Monday, 21st to Thursday, 24th November, 2022, trained participants to practise the Halliwick concept of hydrotherapy in Ghana.

UEW Holds Chemistry Festival for Selected Schools in the Municipality

The Department of Integrated Science Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), in collaboration with the American Chemical Society (ACS), has held a chemistry festival for four selected Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Effutu Municipality.

The festival, which took place on Thursday, 24th November, 2022, at the Methodist Rafiki Satellite Village in Gyahadze, a suburb of Winneba, was under the theme “Unmasking Chemistry in Indigenous Activities”.

Peace and Reconciliation Committee Submits Report to UEW Council

A six-member Peace and Reconciliation Committee constituted by the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), as part of the roadmap to resolve all outstanding issues and to bring lasting peace to the university, has submitted its final report to the Council.

This took place on Wednesday, 23rd November, 2022, at the Council Chamber, North Campus, UEW.
