UEW Hosts GAUA 2022 National Congress

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) chapter of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), with support from the National Executives of GAUA, from Thursday, August 4 through to Saturday, August 6, 2022, held the 2022 GAUA National Congress at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, UEW. It was under the theme, "Corporate Governance and the Socio-Political Environment of Public Universities in Ghana: The Role of the University Administrator.”

Hard-working Professionally Minded Administrators Impel Universities’ Growth – UEW Pro-Vice-Chancellor

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, has said that universities advance not just through efficient administration but also the efforts of diligent, professionally-minded administrators.

He highlighted the pivotal role of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) in the development of tertiary education in the country.

UEW-CODeL Outgoing Principal Interacts with Staff

The outgoing Principal of the College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Francis Owusu Mensah, has held an interactive meeting with the staff of CODeL at the North Campus Mini-Conference Room in Winneba ahead of his exit.  

The Principal, whose term of office expires in early August 2022, worked his way up through the College's ranks, starting as a lecturer and progressing to a coordinator for field services, head of the Centre for Distance Education, and founding principal of CODeL.

UEW Trio at Commonwealth Games

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), is privileged to be representing Ghana in the trio of Mr. Francis Frimpong, Mr. William Amponsah, and Ms. Gifty Kwakyewaa Oku, all of the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports (HPERS) at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The Games leverage the transformative and connecting power of sports to bring together and unite a third of the world’s population as citizens of the nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

UEW-SPED Holds Impact Workshop in its Investigation of Childhood Deafness and Development

As part of an ongoing research project that is investigating "the early education for young deaf children and their caregivers in Ghana," the Department of Special Education (SPED), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised an impact workshop to present the project findings so far and solicit feedback from key stakeholders.

UEW Business School Organises Maiden Seminar for Graduate Students

The School of Business, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a maiden seminar for its graduate students at the Amu Theatre, Central Campus, Winneba. 

The seminar was under the theme “Career Development and Mentorship for Graduate Students”. Participants were equipped with strategic learning and researching approaches, academic integrity, and the effective use of library resources to support learning and research.

UEW-FSSE Holds 6th Biennial Social Science Conference

The Faculty of Social Science Education (FSSE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has held its 6th Biennial Social Science Conference under the theme, “Bringing the Gown to Town: Reflections on Africa’s Development in the Face of Pandemics”. 

The two-day event took place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba on Wednesday, 20th and Thursday, 21st July, 2022.

UEW Hosts Annual Youth in Tourism Festival

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has hosted the Annual Youth in Tourism Festival (YOTOFEST). The event was under the theme “The youth, Tourism, and Sanitation”. 

The festival, which was held at the Jophus Anamuah Conference Centre on the North Campus of Winneba, aimed to enhance the problem-solving abilities of the youth to ensure their active involvement in the achievement of sustainable development targets by the year 2030 as well as empower younger generations to initiate more sustainable tourism opportunities.

FFLE Holds a One-day Faculty Workshop

The Faculty of Foreign Languages Education (FFLE), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has organised a one-day workshop for its faculty members at the School of Creative Arts Conference Room, Central Campus, Winneba.

The workshop, under the theme, "Effective Supervision: The Role of the Supervisor," sought to sharpen supervisors' skills in supervision, highlight some important practicalities of supervision, and walk them through time-saving and stress-reduction strategies so they can better serve their students.
