AN ALUMNUS PARTNERS UEW TO CONSTRUCT EARLY CHILDHOOD CLASSROOM BLOCK

A ground breaking exercise has been held to commence the building of a Modern Classroom Block for Students of the Early Childhood Care Department as a Demonstration Block. The founder of EndPoint Homeopathic Clinic, Dr. Adu Boateng, an Alumnus of the University of Education, Winneba said the act was in fulfillment of a promise made to the Department of Early Childhood Care during its 9th Anniversary Celebration. Explaining further, he recounted during his student days the challenges that confronted his class when it came to the demonstration bit of what they were taught theoretically. He noted that the challenge faced stirred his desire to partner UEW to construct the classroom block.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, in a statement said the University was ready to partner with old students who wanted to ‘give back’ to their alma mater to help carry out several innovative projects on the University campuses. He commended Dr. Adu Boateng for his zeal and thoughtfulness to support his former department to address a major challenge of acquiring a demonstration block for its students. He added that the kind gesture would catch the attention of other Alumni to also support the University in carrying out other developmental projects.

On his part, the Registrar, Dr. C.Y. Akwaa-Mensah noted that the building project was already a planned project of the University but was unable to see the light of the day due to insufficient funds, hence the initiative of Dr. Adu Boateng was a timely one. The Pre-school Block when completed would include washrooms, a kitchen for the preparation of meals for the children, a reception or lounge, a resource room, an office and classrooms for kindergarten and crèche.
