Be bold to take risk into business – Prof Okine

Professor Reynolds Okine, Principal, College of Technology Education of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has encouraged university graduates to accept to take risks and venture into business.
He said the training they had received should aid them to create employment for themselves to lead a good life.
That, he pointed out, was the path to travel to bring down the high rate of joblessness in the country.
Prof Okine was speaking at the opening of a-day’s products’ exhibition mounted by level 300 students of the university in Kumasi.
On display were beads, ornaments, shoes, detergents and liquid soaps made by the students.
The Principal spoke of the need for aggressive push towards entrepreneurship training of students by the universities.
He noted that when they “are able to set up their own businesses, they would engage other unemployed people in their communities and lift many out of poverty”.
He indicated that the universities had been established to help address the problems and challenges of the society and should therefore do just that – live up to expectation.
Prof Okine added that they should make their programmes relevant to the needs of industry.
