CAGRIC holds certificate training programme in international agriculture trade policy
The College of Agriculture Education of the University of Education, Winneba, Mampong Campus is hosting a two week Certificate Training Programme in International Agriculture Trade Policy from 17th October – 28th October, 2016 under the ECIATA-EDULINK II Project. The Training Programme was preceded by a colourful Opening Ceremony on Monday, 17th October, 2016 at College.
In the welcome address, Prof. J. K. Kagya-Agyemang, Acting Principal of the College said he was hopeful that the training programme would help contribute to enhance research on Agriculture Trade Policy and also strengthen the negotiation skills of all relevant stakeholders, including the Government of Ghana.
Prof. Harrion K. Dapaah, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and the immediate Past Principal of the College added that trade in agriculture products played a crucial role in stimulating economic growth, developing food markets and help to reduce poverty and insecurity in the sub region. According to him, it was clear that African countries could not meet the growth and poverty-reduction objectives set under the NEPAD Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) unless we improve upon our trade performance and repeal the decline in market shares in the agriculture sector.
