CAGRIC Presents Evaluation Findings of NICHE Project to UEW Management
Representatives of the College of Agriculture Education (CAGRIC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Monday, 20th August, 2018 presented the findings of the evaluation of the Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Building in Higher Education (NICHE) Project to Management of the University at the Winneba Campus.

The project which was about improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Ghana was requested by CAGRIC and implemented in 2014 by MDF Training & Consultancy, Netherlands and West Africa.
As part of the conditions for the project, there was a mid-term evaluation which recommended a budget interest extension. As a result, the request was made and the extension ended in August, 2018.

The Dean, Faculty of Science and Environment Education and Coordinator of NICHE Project, Dr. Richard A. Kuffour explained that the project demanded for a final evaluation after four years.
“So our partners that are West Africa and MDF Training & Consultancy came for evaluation which started last week Monday and ended on Friday. So, on the same Friday we had a meeting with all staff at CAGRIC and they presented the findings of the evaluation. As tradition demands, we came to the Winneba Campus for this meeting specially to present the findings of the evaluation of the NICHE Project to Management of the University.” He said.

According to the Senior Consultant/Trainer, MDF Training & Consultancy, Ms. Marie-José Niesten who spoke on the recommendations, underscored the need for CAGRIC to continue to strengthen its gender component in the College explaining that, the College should have a better balance of male and female lecturers.
“CAGRIC would also do its best for the sustainability of the infrastructure which has been put in place. We see that CAGRIC is really growing in its Competency-Based learning integration and since it is embraced by CAGRIC, it will be an important learning approach that will be used also for the development of other curricular. I am really full of confidence that CAGRIC will continue what we have put in place.” She said.

The Management of UEW expressed joy and promised to support the initiative to spread in Ghana and throughout Africa. Among the officials present were the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni; Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kagya-Agyemang; Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq; Ag. Finance Officer, Mr. Bruno Chirani; Ag. Internal Auditor, Mr. Godwill Andoh-Mensah; Senior Assistant Registrar, Gender Mainstreaming, Ms. Eva Annan and others.
