COLTEK Drivers and Mechanics Undergo Refresher Training
Drivers and Mechanics of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) have undergone refresher training to equip them with the requisite skills and knowledge to further enhance their performance in the University.
The workshop aimed among other things, to equip participants with skills on how to maintain good health, effectively manage the College’s vehicles and improve their attitude towards work generally.

The two-day workshop, organised by Management of the College, took place on Wednesday, 5th to Thursday, 6th September, 2018 at COLTEK.
In his Opening Remarks on behalf of the Ag. Principal of COLTEK, Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo, the Head of College Human Resource Department, Mr. Richard Kwadwo Mprah emphasised the critical role that the drivers played in the workings of the University. He added that it was imperative for them to undergo regular refresher trainings so they could keep pace with changing trends in the industry.
Mr. Mprah thus, encouraged the participants, numbering about 50, to pay close attention to the exposure and experience that they will acquire during the workshop.
Some of the topics treated at the workshop were Professional Work Ethics; Stress Management; Time Management; Driver as a Corporate Image and Occupational Health and Safety.
Speaking on Time Management, former Head of the Department of Management Education, Mr. Ahmed Musah asked participants to develop a priority list of all activities and make it a point to follow, explaining, that would help them to fight distractions that often waste time and render victims unproductive.
“As drivers, there is need for you to keep a regularly updated to-do list which you stay committed to, review your progress, avoid procrastination and distractions and make it a point to have adequate rest at all times.” He said.

Speaking on the topic, “Professional Work Ethics,” Head of Academic Affairs, COLTEK, Mr. Charles Baba Campion encouraged participants to maintain an attitude of openness and honesty in all their dealings in the University.
He advised them against pilfering and gossip and encouraged them to be committed to working hard at all times to enhance the image of the University.
