COLTEK SRC Organises Special Parade to Herald 2018 Week Celebrations

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) on April 4, 2018 witnessed an excellent display by the College Cadet Corps as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) there organised a special parade to herald this year’s SRC Week celebrations. The Military Cadet Corps turned-out smartly in their dominant red and black ceremonial uniforms and treated members of the College Community to some delightful slow and quick precision-marching and riffle displays. The College Band was also in attendance to spice up the event with some patriotic songs.

With support from the SRC President, Mr. Clifford Joseph Tuffour and other SRC Executives, the Vice-Dean of Student Affairs, Rev. Dr Joseph Mbawuni reviewed parade and then devoted much of his speech at the event to extol the Cadet Corps for their “admirable performances”. “Watching your display gives me much optimism about the future of this country. If we can have our students devote themselves to a worthy cause like we have just witnessed, then I can say that there is a future for this country”, he intimated. While he encouraged the students to join the Cadet in order to learn discipline and orderliness, he minced no words also imploring the students to participate fully in activities that had been planned for the Week since that would give a true sense of belonging.

The activities include what the SRC had dubbed “Rep your school/Football Club” scheduled for April 5, 2018; Float through some principal streets in Kumasi on April 6; Mr. COLTEK on April 7, 2018 and the Miss COLTEK beauty contest shall crown it all on April 8, 2018. For his part, the SRC President thanked the students for their support that had resulted in his success as their leader. He said he was not spared the challenges that came with the office but through dint of hard work and dedication to duty, he and his executives had worked to ensure that they left a legacy in COLTEK. With just a few weeks left of the tenure of the SRC Executives, they pride themselves with the expansion and improvement of the Wireless Internet connectivity on the Campus as their flagship achievement. Mr. Tuffour, however, told the students that plans were almost complete for the SRC sponsored learning benches to be installed at vantage spots on campus to boost private individual and group studies.
