Department of Geography Education Holds Sensitisation Meeting for Its Students
The Department of Geography Education under the Faculty of Social Sciences Education on Monday, 26th November, 2018 held an end-of-semester sensitisation meeting with its students at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba. This was part of efforts to inculcate a sense of discipline into the students with the ultimate aim of producing graduates who are aware of the dictates of their environment.
The meeting exposed students to the rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations in the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and also addressed other examination and assessment-related concerns.
In his address, the Department Examinations Officer, Mr. Enoch Sam took the students through the examination rules and regulations, offences and penalties as stipulated in the UEW Students’ Handbook.
He underscored the need for students to familiarise themselves with the rules and regulations and abide by them to avoid sanctions. He hinted that the Department had put in place several measures including sitting arrangements for the smooth conduct of examinations.
The Faculty Examinations Officer, Mr Cletus Ngaaso implored the students to be time conscious during the upcoming examinations. He further counselled students with incomplete results (ICs) and failed papers (Es) to endeavour to contact the respective Departments to get them immediately resolved.
The Head of Department, Dr. Mrs. Esther Yeboah Danso-Wiredu, also encouraged the students to be abreast with the timetable of the upcoming examinations. In this regard, she cautioned the students against relying on information on the conduct of the examinations from friends, as those pieces of information might sometimes be inaccurate.
The lecturers and academic counsellors available, in turns, counselled the students and wished them well in the upcoming examinations.

Also present at the meeting were the Department Administrator, Mr Richard Awudi; Prof Eze Bassey Eze; Dr. Adjoa Afriyie Poku; Dr. Yaw Asamoah; Dr. Kojo Gyabaah and the national service personnel attached to the Department. A total of 950 Geography students (both major and minor) attended the meeting.
