Division of Human Resource Holds Workshop for Artisans

The Human Resource Division of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in collaboration with the Work and Physical Development office (UEW) on 16th May, 2018 organised a workshop for all Artisans in all sections of the University. The event was aimed at educating these individuals on two most important ways of effective service delivery; Effective Working Skill and Service Delivery, Time Management, its Meaning and Importance.

In his welcome address, Mr Richard Nketiah, a Maintenance Engineer said it is important for individuals to set goals that will help in quality delivery of services and it is the responsibility of the Artisans to consider this workshop as a means of learning how to acquire the appropriate skill for their field of work.

Presenting on ‘Effective Care and Maintenance of Working Tools’, Mr Erasmus Sam, Manager at the Winneba Vocational Training Institute stated that there is the need to ensure working equipment and tools are kept in good condition and the right tools for the right job are utilised to ensure maximum productivity.

He further stated that for effective maintenance and caring for working tools the following must be adhered to;

  • Practice regular maintenance
  • ensuring a clean working environment
  • dusting
  • Frequent oiling of working equipment and tools.

 Mr Ebenezer Manford Torbgor, Coordinator at the Maintenance Section stated the next presentation saying, “Time and tide waits for no man, it is important for every individual to understand the meaning of time. If you waste time, you fail to create an identity of your own”.

He added that the following should be considered as helping tools in managing time well;

  • Effective planning
  • Setting deadlines
  • Setting your goals and objectives.

In conclusion, Ms Patricia Kaitoo, Assistant Registrar, Division of Human Resource advised the Artisans to be responsible and work effectively to maximize production. She commended the organisers and showed her uttermost appreciation to everyone present at the event.

Also present were Mr Isaac Darko, Chief Administrative Assistant, Division of Human Resource, Mr Kojo Opoku, staff at Works and Physical Development Office amongst others.
