H. E. Akufo-Addo Lauds UEW Faculty Members

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency (H. E.) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded Faculty Members of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) for their contribution in the reformation and transformation of Ghana’s educational status.

The President stated that members of Faculty of the UEW particularly the first Vice-Chancellor of the University played major parts in the social and economic transformation of the nation.

H. E. Akufo-Addo made the commendation on Monday, 17th September, 2018 during the Investiture and Induction of fourth Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni held at Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

“I speak above all of the pioneering work undertaken by UEW’s first Vice-Chancellor; that outstanding educationist, Prof. Jophus Anamuah-Mensah.” He extolled.

The First Gentleman of the land added that the University continues to produce teachers who also deliver educated and skilled workforce that the nation requires to transform its economy.

He therefore, affirmed government’s commitment to the growth of the University and pledged to ensure that UEW fulfils its mandate.

“Our goal is to install the teaching profession in the status of joy and make it an attractive career choice. Teaching must no longer be seen as a job of last resort.” He said.  

H. E. Akufo-Addo expressed faith in the ability of the fourth Vice-Chancellor to steer the affairs of the University to even greater heights.
