Hard-working Professionally Minded Administrators Impel Universities’ Growth – UEW Pro-Vice-Chancellor

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, has said that universities advance not just through efficient administration but also the efforts of diligent, professionally-minded administrators.

He highlighted the pivotal role of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) in the development of tertiary education in the country.

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang made this assertion on Friday, 5th August, 2022, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre at the North Campus of the University during the opening of a three-day GAUA National Congress hosted by the UEW.

The congress was under the theme “Corporate Governance and the Socio-Political Environment of Public Universities in Ghana – the Role of the University Administrator”.  

"This university, indeed, deems it a great honour to be hosting this congress of astute administrators from public universities across the length and breadth of Ghana. We here are really excited about hosting you and being part of this event. I’m intrigued by the theme and urge you all to apply yourselves to the knowledge to be discussed and shared here," he advised.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the congress would lead to a stimulating evaluation and provide a new path for advancement for university administration in Ghana. "We shall always be proud of your historical role in progressively shaping university administration and the environment in the most unparalleled way in this country."

He applauded the National Executive Committee for selecting the UEW branch executives to serve as the new national officials. He assured all GAUA members that they were going to be proud of the leadership the incoming national executive would provide.

“We, in management have had the opportunity to work with them. we are very proud of the collaborative partnership we have had with them in the management and administration of the university. You’ll surely be proud of the leadership they will provide for this professional group, GAUA.

“I wish you well in your deliberations and trust that your experience on our campus would leave lasting memories. Let’s have some very fruitful and insightful deliberations,” he averred.
