Management Ready to bid 2020 Retirees a Befitting Farewell

The Deputy Registrar, Division of Operations and Chairman of the 2020 Retirees’ Send-Off Planning Committee, Mr. Alexander W. Essah has disclosed Management’s readiness to support the Committee bid farewell to 2020 retirees.

He expressed his candid contentment of Management’s approval regarding expenses for the event and thanked them for the support provided.

Mr. Essah revealed this in an interview with the Media Relations Office on Tuesday, 25th August, 2020 at his office. 

“Retirement does not mean the world has come to an end for the retiree but it is rather a transition of one’s life. Even though they are leaving the University, they still have their lives to take good care of. They should exercise regularly and seek professional advice before they consider any investment opportunities,” he advised the retirees. 

He applauded his team for the support and timely execution of tasks which had made the whole planning simple and easy. 

The Deputy Registrar, Division of Human Resource (HR), Mrs. Deborah Afful on her part commended the retiring staff for their hardwork and services to the University to push it to where it is today. She thanked them for everything they had done, directly and indirectly for UEW. 

“Working with all our retiring staff for the past years has been an immense pleasure. Their donation of valuable time and graciousness towards the people with whom they worked as well as their ability to influence and make colleagues perform better has been very impressive. We shall miss working with them; we wish them happy retirement,” she stated. 

Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Senior Members, HR, Mr. Isaac Yaw Manu commenting on the pending programme entreated retiring senior members to have regular medical checkups and also be mindful of their dietary choices.

Senior Assistant Registrar in charge of Junior/Senior Staff, HR, Mr. Charles Denkyi also charged retiring junior and senior staff to be good ambassadors of UEW wherever they find themselves. 

The Head, Department of Employee Relations and Secretary to the 2020 Retirees’ Send-Off Planning Committee, HR, Ms. Patricia Kaitoo stated that the party is a show of Management’s recognition of the hard work of the retiring staff. 

“The staff have worked hard, offering a lot of services to the University throughout the many years they have served.  It is apposite that the University gives them a suitable farewell in acknowledgement of their commitment to the growth of the University,” she said.

Ms. Kaitoo stressed that her outfit had put in place tangible measures to ensure that the COVID-19 safety protocols are observed during the celebration. 

“Even though we are not in normal times, we are well prepared in terms of the organisation and adherence to all safety protocols during the event,” She noted.  

She pointed out that the retirees were extremely excited to hear that Management had enhanced the retirement package (Parting Gift) by 35%. 

 The event, scheduled for Thursday, 24th September, 2020, will take place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre car park to ensure the observation of physical distancing protocols.
