No need to cut corners to make money as an insurance against retirement.
Dr. Asonaba Kofi Addision has urged workers at the University of Education, Winneba to work hard and not cut corners to make money as a surety against their retirement.
Speaking on behalf of retirees at a send-off party organized by the University for its 2016 batch of retirees, he observed that retirement itself is widely presumed to be the golden years of every worker. This is where an individual who has contributed his quota to the society deserves all the reverence and respect by society.
Recent events however seem to be painting a rather glooming picture of the retiree and the state of retirement in Ghana and the world at large. He cited the media and Help Age Ghana’s reports that portray retirement as the worse stage of life. To many, retirement comes with no reliable source of income, loss of routine, loss of prestige and sometimes friends.
This he observed should not be the case and especially for workers of the University of Education, Winneba. To him, if all staff of the University work hard, they will live to enjoy a total post retirement satisfaction.
To the retirees, he reminded them that, they are only retiring from formal employment and not retarding. They should therefore continue to contribute their quota wherever they find themselves to make society a better place. Click here to see more photos.
