OLA Girls Senior High School Visits COLTEK

The Head of Department for Management Studies, at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi, Mr. Ahmed Musah has advised Senior High School students to choose business courses due to the numerous prospects available in academia, banking and finance, and the business world.

He refuted the erroneous impression that students who opted for business studies could not get admission into teacher and nursing training colleges which has led to disinterest in the subject. He gave several career options available in the business world, such as; teaching, banking, accounting, management, administration, and consultancy; among others adding that most engineering and medical professionals have chosen to study business courses in addition to their profession. Mr. Musah brought this to light when he addressed about thirty Business Studies students from the OLA Senior High School at Kenyasi in the Brong Ahafo Region. The students were on an educational visit to the College, and the Faculty of Business Education (FBE) in particular. The students were lectured on the background of the COLTEK and the Faculty of Business Education. They were also educated on the programmes offered in the faculty, entry requirements, and career options for graduates.

The leader of the delegation of the OLA Senior High School who happens to be alumnus of the University of Education, Winneba Mr. Anthony Kwarteng Taniah, Tutor, said they chose to visit the institution because of the excellent academic standards and opportunities it offers to prospective students. Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Education, Mr. Freeman Mensah, who chaired the function on behalf of the Principal, gave welcome address. he lauded the school for the visit and presented the mission and vision, as well as the various faculties and programmes offered. Some of the students expressed their excitement at the exposure and hoped they would get the opportunity to further their education in the institution.
