TechTalk Holds IT Career Seminar
TechTalk, an initiative of the Information and Communication Technology Students' Society (Infoctess), of the Department of ICT Education which holds a technology discussion programme on Radio Windy Bay organized an I.T. Career Seminar on the 24th February, 2018 at the Department of ICT Main Lab.
The rationale of the seminar was to primarily expose Infoctess members and listeners of the radio programme to professional certifications available to them from ISACA (information Systems Audit and control Association), a global association which engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted industry leading knowledge and practices for information systems serving 140,000 professionals in 180 countries of which Ghana is a member.
Resource personnel were invited from INNOVARE, one of the nation’s leading training institutions for ISACA certifications. Speaking at the seminar, the CEO of Innovare, C.K. Bruce - a former president of the ISACA Ghana chapter and holder of four ISACA certifications - admonished participants to make use of the professional certifications so they can stand out from their peers in the saturated job market.
The seminar was held in two sessions and attended by more than 200 students. Lecturers of the Department who were present include: Mr. Daniel Danso Essel, Ms. Esther Gyimah and Dr. Ephrem Kwaa-Aidoo, who is an ISACA member, encouraged participants to acquire these certifications.
ISACA offers certifications in Information System Management, Information Systems Auditing, Cybersecurity Expert, Risk and Information System Control, and Governance of Enterprise IT. Participants of the seminar will be awarded certificates of participation by Innovare.
TechTalk is a technology programme spearheaded by Mr. Boakye Agyemang, an alumnus and a Teaching Assistant of the Department of ICT aired on Radio Windy Bay 98.3 MHz every Wednesday at 8:30 pm. The presenters of the seminar were Michael Etrue and Diana Nti-Appiah, - both students of the Department of ICT Education - who are also presenters of TechTalk on Radio Windy Bay.
