Twenty Gallant Recruits Pass Out at UEW
Twenty new security recruits have passed out to serve the University after undergoing five weeks of intensive training at a ceremony held at the hockey ball pitch of the National Sports College, at UEW North Campus on Friday October 14, 2016.
This is the second of trainings held for new security recruits this year 2016 after the initial one held in March. The training which was intended to sharpen and enhance the skills of the recruits to ensure maximum security on the university community and its environs enlightened the recruits on various security related subjects such as Basic Drill, Roles of Security Guard/ Legal Aspect, Security Operations, Static Guard duties, patrolling, report writing, use of baton among others, Radio Procedures, Basic First Aid, Basic Firefighting and Customer Care.
The Review Officer, the Registrar of UEW, Dr. C.Y. Akwaa-Mensah in a speech, assured the Security Directorate of Management support to provide logistics to enhance their work delivery so as to assist them in providing the necessary conducive environment for teaching and learning. He thanked key institutional personalities for the various roles played during the recruitment and training process.
He also thanked the Winneba Municipal Police, the District Fire Service, the University Clinic, the Finance Office, HPERS, and the Division of Human Resource for providing facilitators for their training.
Present at the ceremony were the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. A. Afful-Broni, Director of Security, Colonel Anthony Kofi Asare, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Jonathan Ammah, Head of Department of Art Education, Dr. Kermervor, Deputy Registrar, Publications and Communication, Mr. Steve van Kamassah and other Security Officials.
