UTAG-UEW Executives Inducted into Office

Newly elected executive members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Chapter have been inducted into office by the University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Alexander Edwards.

The ceremony held on Sunday, 13th October, 2019 during an Interdenominational Church Service at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, officially unveiled the new executives of UTAG-UEW to members of the association as well as freshmen and continuing students of the University.

The new executive members are the President, Mr. Eric Sakyi Nketiah, Department of History Education; Vice-President, Dr. Mavis Amo-Mensah, Department of Communication and Media Studies; Secretary, Mr. Pascal Kpodo, Department of Ewe Education; and Treasurer, Dr. Ebenezer Teye Amanor-Lartey, Department of Political Science Education. This follows the UTAG-UEW elections held on Friday, 27th September, 2019 at the Ajumako and Winneba Campuses of the University.

Speaking on behalf of the executives, the President-elect assured members of a unified and transparent administration. He pointed out that his administration would rally support to ensure progressive development of the association.

“We have come in to primarily unify the UTAG front and pay attention to the welfare of the members. We will provide transparent and humble leadership and work closely with Management and the Governing Council of the University towards the ultimate transformation of UEW. We are going to work to establish a closer collaboration not just among members of UTAG but with the rank and file and other stakeholders of the University for the benefit of all,” Mr. Nketiah said.

Among the University Officials present at the ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni; Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ruby Hanson; Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq.; Finance Officer, Mr. Francis Obeng; Deans, Directors, Heads of Department and non-teaching staff of the University.
