YOTOFEST Delegation Calls on UEW Vice-Chancellor

A delegation from the 2022 Youth in Tourism Festival (YOTOFEST), a partnership between the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Sanitation Taskforce, the Tourism Society of Ghana, and SHAPE Attitude Ghana has met with Prof. Mawutor Avoke, Vice-Chancellor of UEW, to discuss plans for the 2022 YOTOFEST.

The visit took place on Wednesday, 22nd June, 2022 at the university’s Council Chamber, North Campus, Winneba. The festival, being the third edition, will be held for the first time in the Central Region of Ghana by the UEW under the theme "Youth, Tourism, and Sanitation".

The activities earmarked for the weeklong celebration include an opening ceremony, exhibition, and summit on Tuesday, July 19, 2022; youth engagement, tourism business investor pitch, and business incubation on Wednesday, July 20; a town hall durbar on Thursday, July 21; the big three tour, awards, and gala night on Friday, July 22; clean-up exercise and beach art festival on Saturday, July 23; and a thanksgiving service on the final day, Sunday, July 24, 2022

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, commended the team for their hard work in taking upon themselves such a big project and for putting their voices out there to make the university community a clean place for everyone to study and live.

He assured the delegation of Management’s readiness to assist any initiative aimed at raising people's awareness of the value of protecting the environment. He further pledged the university’s commitment to sustaining the partnership.  

The Youth Tourism Ambassador and Executive Director for Tourism Society of Ghana, Mr. Joseph Amarh Amartey, stated that the Planning Committee thought it wise to brief the Vice-Chancellor on how far they had come with preparations for the 2022 YOTOFEST so he could make his input.

He also commended Prof. Avoke for endorsing all that they have put in place for the celebration of the festival. 

The Chief Executive Officer of SHAPE Attitude Ghana, Mr. Wonderful Baisie Ghartey, on his part, indicated that the issues of sanitation are his main priority. He added that he was excited to be part of the project in ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for the university community and the entire Effutu community.
