E. T. Amanor-Lartey (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science Education of the University of Education, Winneba. He had his High School education and training from Pope John Senior High School, Koforidua. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science with Philosophy and an M. Phil in Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon. He holds a PhD in Social Studies from the University of Education, Winneba. Some of his research interests are in areas of conflicts in West African state, Social Protection in Ghana, Comparative politics of African States etc. His teaching areas in Political Science include: Comparative Politics, Public Administration, Politics and Development in Africa, Administration of Public Enterprises in Ghana, Politics in Ghana, Governance and Leadership, Political Thought etc.

A Model of Saints, Wizards and Demons: The Dynamics of Public Policy Implementation

Sustainable socio-economic development cannot be possible without
effective implementation of public policies. Public policy implementation
in Africa has been largely ineffective as a consequence of multifactorial
factors. This theoretical paper undertook a quick overview of some policy
implementation works. The paper identified a complex web of actors
involved in the policy making environment and implementation process,
and draws significant insight from the theoretical perspective from studies

The nexus between women empowerment and poverty reduction in urban Ghana: A study of the Ho Municipality.

Poverty is a major problem that has occupied the attention of governments, NGOs and International Development Agencies. The poor are denied adequate access to basic necessities such as water, sanitation, health and education etc. Women form the majority of the most vulnerable to poverty. Socio-cultural practices constrain women’s access to resources and decision-making structures, hence their vulnerability.

The former traditional and the later formal: An evolutionary analysis of social protection in Ghana.

This study looks at social protection from the indigenous African point of view and looks at the trajectory it has taken to its current state with reference to current trends in social protection. Social protection has been a phenomenon within societies since humans started living together in settlements. In the pre-colonial African societies, traditional social protection was institutionalized in the extended family system, to take care of the vulnerable. Social protection appeared in various forms to help alleviate poverty in traditional African societies.
