COLTEK, GTP Partner to Organise Exhibition and Fashion Show

The exhilarating Exhibition and Fashion Show put together annually by the Department of Fashion Design and Textile Education (DFDTE) at the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has this year received a major boost following the Department’s partnering with VLISCO Ghana Group, producers of Ghana Textiles Printers (GTP) to organise the event.

The 26th Edition of Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games held at the University of Ghana, Legon would continue to linger in the memories of many sports enthusiasts. The sixteen-day event under the theme, "Integrating Sports into Academia for Youth Empowerment and Development" saw record breaking and sterling performances from the University of Education, Winneba's (UEW) team.

UEW Management Graces Okyenhene’s 20th Anniversary Grand Durbar

The centre of attraction was at Ese Ho, Kyebi in the Eastern Region of Ghana as the First Three Gentlemen of the land graced the grand durbar of the 20th Anniversary of the Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II.  The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) was also in attendance to witness the memorable occasion.

President Akufo-Addo cuts sod for Construction of Technical Exams Unit at COLTEK

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of Technical Examinations Unit Block (TEUB) and also inaugurated a string of workshops and modern equipment at the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). 

The President carried out these activities when he paid a working visit to COLTEK on December 1, 2019.

UEW to Offer Speaker of Parliament Honorary Doctorate Degree

The Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has affirmed its intention to honour the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye with a doctorate degree for his unwavering contribution towards the remarkable history and politics of Ghana.  

According to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, UEW occasionally honours citizens and international figures who have contributed adeptly to the course of humanity hence, the reason to offer the Third Gentleman of the land an honorary doctorate degree.

Prof. Andrews Ofori-Birikorang Appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UEW

The Management of the University of Education, Winneba, on behalf of the Governing Council, has appointed Prof. Andrews Ofori-Birikorang as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. The appointment takes immediate effect 

Until his appointment as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ofori-Birikorang was the Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages Education and Communication.

COLTEK Gains Full Accreditation to run CBT Programmes under Ghana TVET Voucher Project

The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) has granted full accreditation to the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) to run Competency-Based Training (CBT) Programmes under the Ghana TVET Voucher Project (GTVP).

This makes COLTEK of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) the only university in the country with the privilege to run programmes under the GTVP.

University Hall Undertakes Maiden National Sanitation Exercise

The Management of University Hall in collaboration with the Hall Executives on Saturday, 2nd November, 2019 undertook a clean-up exercise to mark the National Sanitation Day. The exercise saw the full participation of both staff and students in the hall cleaning gutters, scrubbing the washrooms as well as weeding in and around the hall.

COLTEK Wins COL Grant to Train Youth in Automotive Electronic Car Repairs and Maintenance

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) has won a 57,000-Canadian-Dollar-grant under the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to pilot “Skills-in-Demand Project” in Ghana. With the grant, COLTEK will train, at least, 100 Ghanaian youth in Automotive Electronic car repairs and maintenance.

COL is an inter-governmental organisation established by the Commonwealth Heads of Government in 1988 with the focus on encouraging the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies.
